Shreds & Patches Theater Project stages the workings of love as residents of Athens mingle with fairies from a local forest in their production of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Theseus, Duke of Athens, is to marry Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons. Bottom the weaver and his friends rehearse a play they hope to stage for the wedding celebrations. In the woods outside the city, two young men and two young women sort themselves out into couples—forming first one love triangle, then another. The four run through the forest pursuing each other while Puck the fairy helps his master play a trick on the fairy queen. Revel in a story of order and disorder, reality and appearance, and love and marriage in one of Shakespeare’s most beloved plays.

Shreds & Patches Theater Project is dedicated to the undoing of expectation, excavating festivity from daily life through performance and decoration to engender playful imagining and meaningful reflection. The company is made up of UVA Wise alumni, including professional actors and technical crew members, alongside current UVA Wise students.
