Park Avenue Theater

Norton, VA

A school teacher from Pound, VA drew national media attention when she was tried for killing her father with a high-heeled shoe. Pamela Gilmer’s one-woman show traces the local story of Edith Maxwell from “simple mountain girl”, to convicted felon, to free woman after Eleanor Roosevelt advocated for her release and the Washington Post raised money for her defense. Was she falsely accused or did she violate her family’s honor?

Tickets are $10 at the door, and all students are free to attend. Pro-Art season tickets will be honored for this performance. For the safety of everyone attending, Pro-Art requests patrons to wear a mask for the duration of the performance.

Pro-Art partners with a variety of venues, therefore individuals with mobility issues are encouraged to call 276-376-4520 or email the Pro-Art office at pro-art@uvawise.edu to make arrangements for parking.
